Eduardo Rohner is a Swiss contemporary artist whose work investigates states of transformation, archetypal memory, and the hidden structures of consciousness. Working between figuration and symbolic abstraction, Rohner creates visual environments inhabited by hybrid beings, ritual forms, mythological references, and psychological landscapes. His paintings do not seek to illustrate narratives; rather, they reveal inner conditions that exist beneath language and beyond ordinary perception. Recurring motifs such as animals, masks, sacred architecture, fragmented bodies, and the all-seeing eye function as archetypal carriers. They emerge not as symbols of fixed meaning but as active presences within a process of becoming. Each work inhabits a threshold where instinct encounters awareness, where dissolution precedes renewal, and where identity remains fluid rather than resolved. Influenced by his background in photography and visual storytelling, Rohner approaches painting as a field of psychological excavation. Layers of gesture, color, and symbolic structure are used to uncover dimensions of experience that resist direct representation. His compositions frequently operate between ancient and contemporary visual languages, merging mythological echoes with a distinctly modern sensibility. Central to his practice is the understanding that transformation is not an event but a condition. The paintings become spaces in which opposing forces—order and chaos, vulnerability and power, memory and emergence—coexist in dynamic tension. In works such as FIREHORSE, transformation appears not as a metaphor but as an inevitability: the moment at which an old structure has exhausted itself and a new form of consciousness begins to emerge. Through painting, Rohner invites viewers into a contemplative encounter with the unseen architectures of the self, exploring the universal human experience of change, initiation, and becoming.
