PRISHTINA HOUSE / Out of Foreign Focus, Gallery Hani i 2 Robertëve, Prishtina/Kosova 2006    Stills MITROVICE (DV, 2:40min., Loop) Project OUT OF FOREIGN FOCUS / 26.8.-22.9.2006 / Kosovo from pressrelease This exhibition is the presentation of a project that started on the 26th of August. During the 3 weeks that the 6 artists lived and worked in Prishtinë, Kosova, they shaped their impressions of the environment into art pieces of various media. The presentation includes drawing, photography, installation and video. The exhibition is installed in the gallery ‘Hani i 2 Roberteve’, which functioned as a studio during the working period. This space was open for visitors who were interested in viewing the process. Throughout their time in Kosovo, the artists traveled extensively, making visits to many locations and meeting many people. Their work took them from the mines of Kishnica to the archives of the RTK television office, with stops in Prizren and Mitroveca along the way. The participating artists share a common educational background at the Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. They come from the Netherlands, USA, Switzerland and Spain, and currently live in Berlin, Amsterdam, Madrid and New York. Participating Artists: Anna Bas Backer (NL), Eline Jongsma (NL), Aurelio Kopainig (CH), Kel O’Neill (USA), Sara Pape Garcia (NL/ ES) and Betty Ras (NL). The project was made possible with support by the Mondriaan Foundation, Amsterdam, the Swiss Cultural Programme Kosovo and the European Cultural Foundation.
